Agricultural threats spread rapidly. The Pest & Disease Reporting page is a vital community tool. By reporting anomalies on your farm early, you accomplish two things: First, you alert the Sasini extension officers who can provide you with targeted chemical treatments. Second, you help map outbreaks, allowing the factory to warn neighboring farmers before the pests reach their crops.

1. Documenting the Outbreak

To give our agronomists the best chance of diagnosing the issue remotely, the reporting form requires specific, detailed parameters.
1

Open the Reporting Tool

Navigate to the Pest Reports page to report a new pest outbreak.
2

Select the Affected Crop & Location

  • Crop Affected: Choose the specific crop line currently under attack (e.g., Tea, Coffee, Macadamia).
  • Location: Confirm if the outbreak is at your main registered farm, or secondary plot by entering the specific location.
3

Categorize the Threat

  • Pest/Disease Type (Multi-Select): You can check multiple boxes if you are facing several issues at once (e.g., Aphids, Coffee Berry Borer, Leaf Rust). If you don’t know what it is, select Unknown.
  • Severity Level: Tap to select the current state of the farm: Low, Medium, High, or Extreme (crop failure imminent).
Pest and Disease Input Form
Detailed Descriptions Save Crops: In the Symptoms Description box, be as detailed as possible. Note things like “leaves turning yellow at the edges” or “white powder under the stems.” This text is read directly by expert agronomists.

2. Photographic Evidence & Submission

Agronomists cannot prescribe chemical treatments without visual confirmation of the disease.
1

Upload Proof

Tap the Camera Icon and take a clear, close-up photograph of the affected leaf, stem, etc pest or upload from gallery. The system will not allow you to submit a report without an image.
2

Submit the Report

Tap Submit Pest Report.
  1. A Thank You message will appear on screen, acknowledging your help in protecting the farming community.
  2. The report is instantly transmitted to the Sasini agricultural desk.
Under the Hood: If a severe disease (like Coffee Berry Disease) is reported and verified, the backend can trigger an automated SMS/Push notification broadcast to all other registered farmer devices within a 10km radius of the infected GPS pin, warning them to apply preventative sprays.

3. Agronomist Follow-Up

Your report does not go into a void as it helps spread awareness and if you selected a High or Extreme severity, the system automatically opens a ticket with the Sasini extension officers. They will review your uploaded photos and either call your registered alternative number or dispatch an officer to your GPS pin to deliver the necessary Assistance.
Community Impact: Even if the severity is “Low”, reporting it helps Sasini spread awareness and also predict next season’s required inventory for the Agri Shop. Your data ensures we always have the right medicines in stock for everyone!
